Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about FitSay and get the most out of your fitness tracking experience
Getting Started
Download the app from the App Store, then follow the registration steps. You'll create an account with an email address and a password, choose a username, and enter the details FitSay uses to calculate calories: your date of birth, gender, height and weight. You'll also pick a fitness goal.
Your account needs an email address, a password, a display name and a username. To calculate calories, FitSay also needs your date of birth, gender, height and weight, along with your activity level and fitness goal. A profile photo and a bio are optional.
Absolutely! FitSay is designed for users of all fitness levels. Whether you're just starting your fitness journey or you're a seasoned athlete, our voice-first approach makes tracking workouts effortless. The AI understands simple descriptions like 'walked for 20 minutes' or 'did yoga.'
Voice Commands & AI
Simply press the voice button and speak naturally about your workout for up to 30 seconds. Say things like 'I ran 3 miles today,' 'played basketball for 45 minutes,' or 'did a 30-minute yoga session.' Our AI processes your natural language and automatically calculates calories burned based on your profile and the activity described.
FitSay's AI recognizes a wide variety of activities including cardio (running, cycling, swimming), sports (basketball, soccer, tennis), strength training (weightlifting, bodyweight exercises), recreational activities (hiking, dancing, gardening), and many more. If it's a physical activity, our AI can likely understand and track it!
FitSay estimates calories from the activity, how long it lasted and how intense it was, together with your own age, gender, height and weight. Each summary shows the MET value it used and a confidence level. Treat the result as an estimate, because individual metabolism varies.
If FitSay doesn't recognize an activity, try describing it differently or in simpler terms, including what you did and for how long. You can also type the workout instead of speaking it. If it still isn't recognized, contact support.
Features & Functionality
The Free version includes 3 activity logs per week, basic calorie tracking, social features and leaderboards, activity history, and weekly fitness stories. Pro ($5.99/month, price may vary by region) adds unlimited activity logging, advanced workout analysis, AI-generated workout plans (up to 2 per month), and goal-based insights with personalized recommendations.
Add friends and send or accept friend requests, view their profiles and workout stats, and compete on weekly leaderboards that rank who burned the most calories. Privacy settings let you control who can see your profile and your activity.
With Pro, each activity summary includes a goal analysis: how well the workout fits the goal you set, with recommendations. Pro also generates personalized workout plans for weight loss, muscle gain or general fitness, based on a questionnaire (up to 2 plans per month).
Currently, FitSay focuses specifically on tracking calories burned through physical activity and exercise. We don't track food intake or calories consumed - just the calories you burn through movement and workouts. This keeps the app simple and focused on what we do best.
Technical & Privacy
Your recording (up to 30 seconds) is sent to OpenAI's speech and language models, which turn it into an activity. Recordings are processed and deleted after analysis; they are not stored long-term. The resulting activity (its type, duration, calories, date and time) is saved to your account. You can delete individual activities at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account, after which your data is removed within 30 days. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Logging a workout needs an internet connection, because your recording or text is analysed online.
FitSay is available on the App Store for iPhone and iPad and requires iOS 15.1 or later. It also connects to Apple Health, so with your permission FitSay can import your workouts and active energy.
You can cancel your Pro subscription anytime in your Apple Account subscription settings: open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then tap Subscriptions. You'll retain Pro features until the end of your current billing period, then automatically switch to the free version.
Troubleshooting
Try speaking clearly in a quiet environment, keep commands under 30 seconds, and use simple, descriptive language. Ensure your microphone permissions are enabled. If issues persist, try restarting the app or checking for updates. Contact support if problems continue.
Calorie estimates depend on your profile, so first check that your height, weight and date of birth are right. Before saving a workout you can choose Try Again and describe it more precisely. You can also edit or delete activities in your history.
FitSay connects to Apple Health. Once you grant permission, FitSay imports your workouts and active energy from Apple Health so they count toward your totals. You can turn access off at any time in the Health app.
Your activities are stored in your account, not only on your phone. Make sure you are signed in to the same account as before. If something is still missing, contact support.
